No, transitioning to a production-ready i.MX 95 System on Module does not require starting from scratch. However, it does involve software adaptation and system-level adjustments that introduce additional complexity. Starting with a production-ready platform from the beginning helps you avoid this extra effort.
The Verdin iMX95 Evaluation Kit is an older platform that was not designed for production use and is being phased out. It does not include the latest i.MX 95 SoC and is not intended for final product designs. For this reason, we recommend transitioning to our latest i.MX 95 System on Modules and their dedicated evaluation kits, which are designed to take your development to production.
The Verdin iMX95 EVK uses a different form factor and is not compatible with Verdin System on Modules or their carrier boards.
Software support is also limited. The EVK BSP is not maintained by Toradex, and full Torizon support is only available on production-ready SoMs.
