We are pleased to announce the Toradex BSP Layers and Reference Images for Yocto Project 5.0.0-devel-202009 September monthly release.

Highlights include:

• Based on the Yocto Project 3.1 (Dunfell) LTS release
• Based on mainline U-Boot 2020.07 release, except for i.MX 8 Series based modules
• Based on BSP L5.4.24_2.1.0​ for downstream and i.MX 8 Series based modules
• Minimal and Multimedia reference images. The Multimedia includes support for Qt 5
• Bug fixes

Monthly releases are pre-production releases. We run basic smoke tests on them and release them as-is and while they may be suitable for development, issues and bugs may be present. Learn more about our release types in our Embedded Linux Support Strategy.

Toradex is transitioning from BSP 4 to 5, as explained in our blog post. Since this is a major update, TorizonCore 4 may be more stable to do development on at the moment then the current monthly pre-production release. We do not anticipate any major hurdles to switch to TorizonCore 5 once we announce a production release.
